howard slayte told him that, in the waning hours of a dream. With a single moment of peace afforded to him and his before the storm, Navy resolves to come here and seek the truth of the matter. If nothing else, it makes for a refreshing change of pace.[break][break]
Lightning makes him flinch. Zacian has joined him for this venture, and he sees in her eyes a tinge of annoyance with every flinch. Perhaps she expects better from him. Their eyes meet, and she too flinches when another golden bolt cuts across the sky. Zacian huffs, and keeps moving.[break][break]
Heh. Not so tough, Zaria.[break][break]
The name goes unsaid. It’s a secret just for them. Instead, he listens to Eris. Navy waves her over to great metallic ruins, sheltering them from the rain and lightning. Far, far away, a supermassive Xurkitree lights up like a Christmas tree.[break][break]
“That sounds really complicated.” He laughs. “How in the world d’you remember something like that?” The words are spoken with admiration. Legends trail across the sky in streaks of gold.[break][break]
“Think we’re getting close.”

"Have you ever seen someone who's survived a lightning strike? One of Momma's adventuring friends visited and they had this... scar that looked like brown vines all over their arm. It must've hurt real bad, but he laughed it off like getting struck was nothing."[break][break]

Her eyes trail over the giant canid that keeps pace with Navy, the way the two of them seem to have such a tightknit bond. More than just the surface connection between between an avatar and their patron. And to some extent, she wonders if it runs deeper than her bond with Reiner.[break][break]

"I have a piece of fulgurite myself! From Zekrom!" She lifts an arm to cover her face from the water Reiner shakes out of his mane. "I remember pa telling me about it a long time ago, but I had to flip through quite a few books to find the name..." And she'll take the edges of her jacket, wringing out whatever little rainwater she can.[break][break]

"Oh, oh! Did you know, there's a really cool phenomenon known as St Elmo's lightning? Or witchfire? It's when the air is all conductive and it creates bright plasma streaks! Supposedly blue or purple! Momma used to say that it could warn of lightning strikes and was considered a good omen by sailors!"[break][break]

There she goes again, rambling on about the wonders of nature and adventure. And she enjoys sharing it, so much so that she nearly misses how Navy speaks again (Thank heavens that Reiner is a good listener).[break][break]

Whatever people once called this place home built natural lightning rods atop some of their structures. One such structure sits above them. As Eris explains St. Elmo’s fire to him, streaks of mysterious blue flames sift through the air. This place is very conductive, he’s beginning to realize.[break][break]
From the heavens, lightning sculpted into a specific shape for a specific purposes crashes into the rod. Zacian stands ready at once. Metal shudders. A makeshift generator baked into the side of the structure sparks before finally fading into nonexistence, scattered to the winds.[break][break]
Regeleki, or whatever’s left of it, stands before them. Navy is no expert in legendaries, except for the practical bits. Firsthand experience with Elise Calcifet, Josh, and others has taught him that some can split parts of themselves off. These weaker shards are still deadly. Howard Slayte isn’t a liar, at least not so blatantly, not at that precise moment. What he said, he said with total sincerity.[break][break]
“Eris.” He says calmly, as the eyes of the great electric titan turn upon them where they hide. “How d’you tell the difference between a real legendary and their shard?”

[attr="class","eris109"]The air buzzes with life, a brand new presence introduced with the song of the storm. For a moment, she is still, paralysed by its gaze laid upon her.[break][break]

A titan, unlike any other she has seen thus far. One that commands the energy that runs through these lands. Her palm tingles as static kisses her fingers. For a moment, she is numb, unable to feel her own limbs as her eyes remain stuck to Regieleki.[break][break]

"I... don't know for sure." Her voice is but a whisper within the lightning's chorus. "The Calyrex that Miss Elise had... didn't seem all that different. But there was this... air about it. That it was way less lively than the real one. Kinda like a baby, or Regirock. Empty. With barely any impression of the world."[break][break]

It did not ask for stories like the king did. It followed Elise's actions but did not deviate much from her course.[break][break]

"Other than that, I would imagine that shards are weaker than the real thing. Kinda like... a sygna suit versus an avatar. A fragment of power vs the whole thing. It's also possible that with less power, they're smaller too. But it'd probably differ from legend to legend, no?"[break][break]

Looking to Zacian, Reiner follows her lead and prepares himself for the worst. Given this titan's affinity for electricity, this might just be a bad match-up for the both of them.[break][break]

"You think this one's just a shard?"

“I don’t know.” He admits with crossed arms. “But there’s only one I figure I can find out.” The Regeleki bounces above them, quicker than a giant has any right to be. Like its hyperborean cousin, the electric giant retains its gift of movement. In a region where their movement is constrained, he imagines that is a rare and useful boon.[break][break]
“You know what to do, yeah?” He asks Zacian. She turns her attention back to their foe. Without another word, she charges forward. Bouncing about like some mad thing, she begins a dance of death with the supermassive legendary.[break][break]
Sacred Sword dances against a wild charge of electricity. Fighting spirit and electricity clash against one another again and again, whirling across the ground before the two like some macabre spinning top. Zacian holds Regeleki in place, buying Reiner time to attack.[break][break]
Above them, Voltorb bask in the electric city, laughing at tone another in their alien language. Navy knows not what they say, but he feels a strange tingle when he looks upon them, as if some part of him could reach out across space and simply…[break][break]
…pluck them up.[break][break]
The Voltorb shrieks.[break][break]
“Huh.” Says Navy, holding his hand out and making the same gripping gesture he would with a pokeball. The Voltorb floats in the air.[break][break]
“Zacian gave me some interesting powers, huh?”

[attr="class","eris109"]A sharp bark is her signal to hop off, the Luxray immediately leaping after Zacian as soon as she's clear of him. And how loudly his own electricity snarls in this endless storm, a Rising Voltage amplified by their sygna suit bond and the heavily ionised atmosphere.[break][break]

Eris, on the other hand, tethers on uneven ground, stumbling and flailing a little until she catches her balance. Everything is so loud in this city, the laughter of Voltorb above echoing through these strange metallic structures. Then suddenly, a shriek. Her eyes snap up as she watches a Voltorb levitate mid-air. Then it drops to Navy, wide-eyed as she takes in the gesture he's making and puts it all together.[break][break]

And back to the Voltorb it goes, prickles of light beginning to dot its body -[break][break]

"Navy, it's gonna explode!"

“You ever watch baseball?” Power gathers around the Voltorb, which threatens to explode out with terrible force. “One of the few nice things my dad ever told me: I’d make one heck of a good pitcher.”[break][break]
He lines up his shot. Navy takes aim. With the power of mind, metal, and mettle, he feels the Voltorb. It would be…the simplest thing in the world, to throw it right at the electric titan.[break][break]
And so, he does. It soars through the air, screaming its fury all the while. It makes contact with Regeleki, energy spreading out. Even the colossal titan takes a step back, taken by surprise.[break][break]
“Huh. Well, if that worked…” There’s other Voltorbs. They scream. They, too, are launched. Navy is given piece of mind when he sees them fall at Regeleki’s feet, still squirming. They’re angry, but they’ll live. Voltorb are one of the few species of Pokemon he’d consider openly hostile to human life. In the end, they’re just evening the score.[break][break]
“Home run!”

[attr="class","eris109"]"No?" Little Eris was far too busy scaling trees and chasing wild pokemon to watch baseball in the living room. But as she watches Navy huck that Voltorb right through the air, she can't help but whistle at the beautiful arc.[break][break]

Surprisingly, that Voltorb holds more than enough power to make Regieleki stumble back. Now, when you multiply that explosive force several times over, it's a wonder how the titan still manages to stand its ground.[break][break]

Of course, it isn't happy, the symbols on its face flickering as it turns towards them. First comes Zacian, a point-blank Hyper Beam aimed straight at her face. Then it calls to the storm, a booming cry that urges the clouds to gather above them.[break][break]

"REI-"[break][break]

Judgement falls from the heavens, lightning crashing down indiscriminately on the buildings, rocks and all living beings in the area. A Thunderbolt strikes near Eris' feet, the sudden impact startling her as she yelps and falls. The remnant electricity discharged into the air prickles at her skin, readily marking her as a prime target for the next strike. The dark clouds glow, yet another bolt rushing down towards her -[break][break]

A bright light envelopes her. It's warm but doesn't burn at her skin, it's tingly but doesn't fry her senses. Standing right by her side, a figure also basks in that golden glow. He grits his teeth, growling as the surging current is forcefully directed into the ground.

Her blade pivots up, a desperate attempt to redirect the force away from the humans behind her. That it works, even in part, seems proof enough of her sword-brother’s claim. Something is off about this giant, or else that blow would have overwhelmed them utterly. These manmade titans little care for the skittering of ants.[break][break]
Navy stands there in the electric glow, so focused on offense that he hardly notices the attack coming until it’s too late. Only through the miracle of Reiner’s existence are the afforded the right to continue existing. Reiner saves them, sending the lightning rolling across the ground. It buys them time. Navy grunts with effort, lifting heavier Electrodes and readying them for a toss.[break][break]
“Zacian!” Navy shouts to his sworn sister. “I’m backing you up. Use Ascalon! We have to get it in this thing’s head that it has to retreat.” Already, the equipment he has brought with him buzzes and whirrs with data rapidly collected. League HQ is going to have a field day with this. Maybe someone will be able to make heads or tails of the readings.[break][break]
Before that, they have to overcome this foe.[break][break]
“Eris, Reiner. You two mind helping out? Another one of those spring storms?”[break][break]
Whether they listen or not, his part of the song remains the same. Zacian gathers energy within her sword. The titan stands before her, and she will bring her considerable might to bear against this foe. A barrage of screaming Electrodes fly past her as she jumps. The world becomes warm and bright, though the glow is orange rather than light. Zacian strikes, a blow perfect enough to be remembered for three thousand years.

Static flicks at her skin, the remaining energy he has yet to divert rising and snapping in tiny arcs. His eyes flutter, a grimace drawing long as he struggles to push back onto his feet. But she rests a hand on his flank, prompting him to lay back down.[break][break]

"Rest. I'll handle this."[break][break]

Whatever he attempts to grunt at her, she hushes as she raises a hand. This time, it's nowhere near as tiring or terrifying as summoning a red chain. As he leans his head into her lap, her mind goes quiet, her focus turned to the imaginary flow of energy through her body.[break][break]

Another storm brews. One much gentler than the one that rages around them yet sharp enough to leave cuts that sting. Colourful as the flowers that bloom in her garden, closely trailing in Zacian's wake as she carves a path right towards the titan. It's nothing compared to the monstrous strength that the canid has, nor will the surging petals leave any cuts as deep as hers. The most this attack can do is shove Regieleki backwards, but felling the giant isn't her responsibility.[break][break]
